When I arrived at our wedding this morning, I didn’t intend to ruin your day. I was thrilled to take part in our memorable celebration. But as I saw you walk down the aisle, I knew I couldn’t follow through.
I tried to block out my doubts and concentrate on the joy on your face and the love in your eyes. However, when the vows were said, something inside of me broke. I could not carry it out or maintain the façade that everything was okay.
I’m sorry, but I can’t marry you.
There was a startled hush as I said the words, and I could see the hurt and perplexity on your face. Even though I realized it was too late, I tried to explain and help you understand. There was no turning back now that I had destroyed our future.
Realizing the harm I had done, I left the ceremony with tears flowing down my cheeks. I hope you will forgive me and see why I had to make the decisions I did one day.
